hello lovely readers! I come bearing both comic commentary for this page and news about future updates 👀
firstly, my apologies for the delayed update! between my other jobs, personal health stuff, and the US presidential election (to anyone in the States or elsewhere who’s also feeling scared, lots of love to you <3 we’re in this together and I believe in us), things got a bit overwhelming these last few weeks.
going forwards I’m going to be trying out a new personal schedule for working on comics that I’m hoping will give me more consistent time to create and post updates, although/and updates will likely be in lo-fi analogue form like this for a while — it’s much faster and easier for me to make, although I do hope to switch back to digital eventually (I love the pretty colors!). for the time being, though, I’d rather be posting messy comics regularly than polished ones infrequently ^u^
relatedly, I’m planning to switch to a Monday evening publication schedule going forwards! Mondays are currently when I have free time to actually lock in comic-wise, and I’d love for that to include the posting process as well.
as for the content of this comic, methinks I’m gonna be switching to a new, less-blobby form of Blobic! much like I upgraded Chris from a hexagon to their current kangaroo-esque design for ease of posing, as these comics have become more autobiographical, I’ve been wanting for the “me” character to look a little bit more like me. he’ll still be a silly little anthro character, but a bit more humanoid and a bit more gender (see also: he/him pronouns for Blobic now :3) (an updated name for Blobic and/or this comic may also be forthcoming, but I’m sticking with the existing ones for now!)
I’ll be posting a bunch of behind-the-scenes character-design-y doodles for him on the Applesauce with Sprinkles Patreon page (which is free to join!), as well as a The Adventures of Blobic page 15.5 that I had thumbnailed before deciding to overhaul the character’s appearance more thoroughly!

transcript:
Blobic’s identified as trans for more than a decade now, and has tried out lots of different gender identities and expressions within those ten years
[a map of a gender spectrum, covered in a mess of points, zigzags, and squiggles]
nothing’s really clicked with her so far, even ideas like genderfluidity, and now they’re wondering if they’re missing something important
[Blobic contemplates the gender squiggles map, which has now been depicted in red-yarn corkboard format, with many question marks over their head]
maybe he needs to give himself more time per trying-thing-out? growing into something new is a big change that can be scary — it can be tempting to tap out and simply stay a vague amorphous blob instead, even if that’s not quite right
[Blobic smiling with a sweat drop over his vague-amorphous-blob-shaped head, with a caption reading “for example”]
it’s comforting to remember that beautiful butterflies come from wet awkward butterflies who come from vague amorphous blobs of chrysalis-y goo
[a somewhat Blobic-shaped pile of goo lays on the floor, from which a scared-looking anthro catboy covered in more goo tentatively peeks out at the readers]
