I’m really happy with how this page turned out! I wasn’t looking forward to trying to depict a playground in fast-rough-sketch form, but I think this definitely gets the point across. it occurs to me that next time I can also use a reference image!
speaking of referencing images, I realized the kids’ reaction in the last panel was likely subconsciously inspired in part by this scene from El Goonish Shive: https://www.egscomics.com/?id=270

Pepper and Ollie are walking along a sidewalk that goes past a playground, where two children are playing happily. both kids look to be young-elementary-school-age, and both are bipedal and wearing a t-shirt and shorts, though only one is wearing shoes. the shoe-ed kid has a long snout and is grinning excitedly as they ride down a slide, while the other has a tail, paw-like hands and feet, and tiger stripes, and is cheering their friend on from the bottom of the slide. Pepper and Ollie are smiling and wagging their tails at the wholesome sight of kids having fun.
the kids suddenly notice Ollie and Pepper and begin running across the grass towards them with faces of delight, shouting “DOGGIES!!!” as they go. in response, Pepper has a question mark over her head, while Ollie has an exclamation point.
